About Melanie

Before joining the team, Melanie competed for Canada in modern pentathlon, which combines fencing, swimming, show jumping, running and pistol shooting. Born in Clinton, Ontario, in 1989, she was a member of the Canadian national team and reached a career-high world ranking of 14th.

• 4th place at the 2011 Pan American Games, which qualified her for the London Olympics;
• 11th place at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London;
• 15th place at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

Years of training to a plan and measuring every result carry over into her reviews: she logs each deposit, payout and support reply and compares casinos on the numbers. At Mastercard Casino List Canada she writes the main ranking and tests every casino on it with her own cards.

Her rule for a review is simple: no figure goes on the page unless she has seen it in the cashier, in the payment terms or on her bank statement. When a casino’s terms and her test results don’t match, the review reports both.

How Melanie Tests a Casino

• Opens a real account from Canada and completes KYC with her own documents;
• Deposits with a credit, a debit and, where accepted, a prepaid Mastercard, and records the minimum, the maximum and any decline;
• Checks whether a card deposit qualifies for the welcome bonus and reads the wagering, stake and game rules;
• Requests a payout back to the Mastercard and times both stages, casino approval and bank credit;
• Repeats the payout through Interac or an e-wallet when the cashier won’t pay to the card;
• Asks live chat a payment question and notes how long a useful answer takes.

Expertise

• Card payments: credit, debit and prepaid Mastercard at casino cashiers, 3D Secure and payout routes;
• Bonus terms: wagering maths, stake caps and the payment methods excluded from offers;
• Canadian market: iGaming Ontario, Alberta’s new regulated market and the licences offshore brands hold.
